The head of Columbia Records at the time of this recording, Mitch "Singalong With Me" Miller, had a lot of faith in this vocal group from Canada who he had previously used to do back-up vocals on such songs as Johnny Ray's "Cry". His faith was vindicated when the Four Lads went to #2 on their own with "No Not Much" in January of 1956.

  • I heard that one of the Lads died. Is that true, & will they get someone to replace him? Can't have the 3 Lads. Which one was it? Really sad , sinse they were one of the great groups back then.

  • @mariltn4 As far as I know Frank Busseri, the baritone, is the only surviving member of the original Four Lads and is still singing with the group.

  • i love my rock and roll, but there's always room for the four lads.:)

  • Loved them then and still love them now, decades later - great sound, voices, arrangement. Thanks for sharing.

  • Actually, all of the 4 original members are alive and doing well. I saw them in a PBS special not too long ago. Mind you, things may have changed in the past year. In any case, I hope not.

  • This was my husband's and my song....the first night we met we danced to it and it brings back many beautiful memories....He isgone now, but the memories linger, especially when I play this song.....the tears flow!!!! God bless his soul!!! And, thank you for recording it for me!

  • @elliott021 He is the only surviving member of the ORIGINAL group.

  • @Nocaro How can Frank Busseri be singing with the group if he is the only surviving member that is left? :)
