My Thoughts On Apples New Notebooks

In this video, I answer WizzKid's (http://twitter.com/WizzKid) request on Twitter to state my thoughts on Apple's updates to their notebooks, namely, the MacBook and MacBook Pro. Without going into the details of the new machines, I'll say that overall I was a little impressed with the updates, but not completely blown away. I'm happy that Apple has found a new manufacturing process to make the MacBooks and MacBook Pros sturdier. The glossy screen is a turn-off for me personally, since I prefer the old school matte screens. The glass trackpad (or mini iPhone as I call it) is a nice addition and Apple made a bold move by removing the one and only mouse button. The entire mousepad is a button. I'm not going to get one of these new MacBooks [Pros] because I don't have the means and if I did, I don't think there's enough to warrant another investment. The good thing about Macs is that they retain their value for a long time and when I bought my current MacBook Pro, I planned on at least a 5 year cycle. Hope this answers your question WizzKid

i LOVE apple products and i do own an iphone 3g....but the prices are sooo steep...i went to the apple store today and then went to best buy and the difference is unreal with pricing...but then again... its apple's quality vs. windows vista's quality.

oh yeah and the mousepad on the new macbooks do not feel like a mini iphone as i expected...they say its glass but definitly doesnt fee like glass, and zoom in-out and slide gestures are sorta limited to a few features

It pisses me off that they removed the firewire port on the macbook. There are so many video editors and professional musicians out there that use this as a portable computer for recording demos. The main reason I switched to mac was because it was on top of music production. I think they really F'ed up here.

Just got one today, and will sell it right before fall semester 09. I'll save up and use my savings and the proceeds from the sale of this one to buy a 17 inch version. I still have a imac g3, and i will use to import video and then export it as a full quality dv file to my usb drive...
