@swatidon1 you have to get them from a good breeder . They have to have a good bloodline and to get your dog not to be fat means you have to walk them a lot and take them hiking and running etc. Pretty much spend that quailty time..

i have owned german shepherds my entire life and you must know they are quite tricky to take care of. they often get bored and will run off if you dont play with them constantly. my german shepherd is still a puppy only about a year but eats about a 50 pound bag of dog food in like 3 weeks. but i spoil mine and give him lots of treats plus the giant bones i have to buy for him to keep him occupied at night as he can chew through a normal raw hide in about 45 seconds.

The german shepard I'm taking care of right now is HUGE. He was a search and rescue dog and his names Zues. He's awesome:) He checks on me to make sure I'm ok.

I had a GSD and he was a very lean 110lbs. I'm talking no fat on him at all. He weighed 91lbs at 7 months old. I heard on multiple occasions that he was the strongest dog that people had ever seen. Brawny with pure brute strength. Very protective too.
