If it is obligatory for you to destroy the piece in order for Sideshow to replace it, then why not have fun doing it. The scout was smashed at the request of Sideshow collectors in order to get a replacement. They don't want broken ones lying around that can be sold on Ebay or something....and having the owner smash it themselves saves on postage.
