This was a fire training drill that went REAL bad. No one died thank god. what happened was the buildings bottom floor had been filled with gasoline and they were getting ready to light it, when the engine had a problem and had to be replaced so they had no safety line for about 30 min. when a new engine was in place they comenced and you see what happened. basicly the vapors from the gasoline accumulated and then the flare ignited it. if it had been lit right away it would have been fine and no explotion. they should have been using diesal fuel but they didn't.

  • Avoidable. Use cardboard boxes to start training fires.

  • what did they think was gunna happen if they used straight gasoline...

  • Wow and they are firefighters?? Thank god they aren't around here.... all I can say is STUPID!!!!

  • well that wasnt too bright

  • the house turn into a bomb... training turn into a real scenario ...

  • They should have used "fire bug" 2parts desiel, one part gas....its used to start backburns.

  • And this is the reason why gasoline should never be used except for it's original purpose (firing an engine). I don't buy the author's explanation. Anything else could have and should have been used...even building a simple fire within and waiting for it to cook.

  • House went boom.

  • Ive been a firefighter for 4 years now, this was a fire company in Amsterdam, upstate new york, just a few hours from where my station is located... just would like to add that everyone survived, 5 firefighters were sent to the hospital for that incident. It's a video we watch in training every year to get the effect that we all shouldnt use gasoline for a training drill.

  • I have been a firefighter for 13 years and the only time we used gasoline was at the training center in the flammable liquids pit. It's a miracle no one was killed. Also I have to agree with kitbomb about the kids being there. I think it was very irresponsible for the parents to allow the kids on scene. Coul have been very traumatic for them.
