This is a 32 year old Westerbeke 30 engine. I had my hands full and couldn't shoot when the old girl final started and made a nice little cloud of oil vapor. Besides shiny paint, the engine has had most critical components either rebuilt or replaced. The most critical (and expensive) of the components of a diesel is the fuel pump- this was rebuilt by a local in the LA-Long beach area. He completely nailed it. Once the air was purged from the fuel lines, it started right up and sounded like a well oiled sewing machine. It will be re-installed in the sailboat seen in the background,
