Dedicated to all of you! Thanks for watching. A TV show about a musician's life sparks the question "what if...?" I had some audio issues, probably need to redo this one. IF any of my fellow songwriters would like to put this lyric to a different melody, I'd love to hear your version.

Feeling Like the Star © 2011 Stan Wells

Sunday morning TV show
'Bout a major country music star
With a two hour sound check and a backup band
Getting ready to play for several thousand fans

Then they cut to a time when he was just a kid
With his first guitar and the songs he did
And I wonder could I have been that guy
Had I not traded my guitar for that suit and tie

chorus
And I've been down so many roads
Highways and byways carrying my load
Now I'm playing here on You Tube for subscribers and friends
And I'm feeling like the star I never could have been

Now that big country star he draws quite a crowd
But the thing that makes me smile right out loud
Is just knowing I have my own fans scattered near and far
Who would rather hear me play than that big country star

chorus
And I've been down so many roads
Highways and byways carrying my load
And I wouldn't trade your comments, thumbs up and favs
For that big country star and all the songs that he plays

So I'm digging out the sound gear, tuning my guitar
Gonna try me a new one, I hope it will go far
In my dreams it will go viral thanks to you guys near and far
And then someday get recorded by that big country star

Chorus
And I've been down so many roads
Miles and miles carrying my load
Now I'm playing here on You Tube for subscribers and friends
And I'm feeling like I'm the star I maybe could have been

  • awe....little bit of all of us in there Stan! glad to have you as a friend!

  • @MrRiblet Yup I so agree Ron. You and Andy helped me with this one for sure. Cheers bro.

  • Sure is a nice place to play isn't it buddy...the thinking back we do and the wishing I had done that gives a lot of inspiration into my writing.....this tune is written very well Stan....has an early jimmy buffet feel in the lyrics....this is the type of song that get the juices flowing to start writing others songs....gets me in the mood...lol...thanks pal...great share.

  • @PatrickGMoran Thank you Pat. Yeah this is all such fun. Like a melting pot for ideas. I know some of the feelings expressed in your tunes as well as Ron and Andy's contributed to this one for me.

  • Great song and a wonderful performance, Stan. You're a star in my book of stars, for sure, and I absolutely prefer to hear and watch you play rather than that big country star - any day! ~Bob

  • @1catbob Hi Bob and thank you kindly. It's so great we have YT as our stage. Count me in as a fan of yours as well my friend.

    Merci pour le partage
