(1st test) kno3 Rocket

KNO3 ROCKET 1st TEST

Experimental Prototip - aluminium nozzle

After 7 days developing this kind of rocket, i can now show here the test of my 10th try of creating a kno3 rocket.
the rocket is placed in a bootle filled with water, so the rocket doesn't fly.
the rocket is made in PVC and aluminium,
I still don't know why the rockets explodes in the end...
after the small explosion, the wind stops the fire very quickly since there is no more kno3 left in the engine.
my solid fuel is 3 parts of kno3, 2 parts of sugar and some iron oxide.

this test as not the objective of making the rocket fly, I just want to test the rocket's thrust.
I believe that with a little more thrust, the rocket will be able to fly, if someone knows how to do it, just let me know.

you must cook the kno3, put some water with kno3, sugar and iron oxide and you will get rcandy, its a lot more powerfull that the uncooked combination used in the video

needs a hole down the middle, it burnt too long, with a hole, it will burn so quick, that the pressure is alot more. should burn no more than 2 seconds. prob 1 second at that small size

Hi, I'm interested in KNO3/Sugar propellant too, and I'd like to know where you found your Iron oxyde, because I'm not sure that I'll find a lot on a piece of oxyded Iron :/ and for deadlyshadow1965, do you know a way to decrease the heat creation in the booster ? (sorry for my very bad English :P )

im using kno3, powdered sugar and iron oxide in Rcandy form and still not getting much thrust. do i need real sugar vs powdered sugar? instead of water and corn syrup can i use just pepsi? =D

i took it from rust, rust is nothing more than oxidised (tks gevar) iron, and i seems to work.
