my parents always played this tape on long trips and i thought it was sooo daggy ( 80's child!) . Anyway for some reason this song came into my head today so i looked it up and viola, knew all the words!! Love it, thanks for posting!

I love this song . my sister played this on her guitar, to all her children and all of her sisters and brother. with great love and foundness we remember her its been 5 yrs since her passing thanks KAREN each time we hear it it reminds of of you green alagators and long neck geese

the first and last time i heard this was in fifth grade. now, five years later i was re-reading Where The Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein and came across this poem. i imediately remembered this song. thank goodness its on here and ii found it, i wount know what to do if i had never been able to find it and listen to it again.

Wonderful song; thanks guys. Just like riding a bike, I was able to remember the movements for "cats, and rats and elephants" (much easier without a pint in your hands.)

My grade 5 teacher read us Shel. We loved it.

I bought my son "Where the Sidewalk Ends" before he was even born. I read it to him, and now that he can read, he'll sit there in bed and read it for hours on end.

The Irish Rovers did an awesome job on this (like every other song they did.)

Shel has some videos on youtube where he reads some of his work. He's a character all right.
