"Pokoik na Hożej" - Kalina Jędrusik, 1963 !

."...The room at Hoża street is so small...
still smaller is a heart
and still smaller - a tear.

But It is only you, God Almighty,
who can really know
that this little aching heart
of the girl sitting night by night
at her window
is as important as all stars, galaxies
and the whole World...".




The song "Pokoik na Hożej" (A Little Room at Hoża Street), composed (1932) by an exquisite musician , Władysław Dan, to the lyrics of one of the greatest Polish poets of the 1st half of XXth century, Julian Tuwim, became in my country famous because of the delicacy of the music and the lyrics content, as well as the deep message included to the poem.

Has been sung for decades until the present time. First, by Mira Zimińska and Zofia Terne, through a line of many other female interpreters.
The present interpretation of the actress Kalina Jędrusik (1931-1991) seems to be completely unknown and seemed to be lost in Polish Radio archives.
I feel a special thrill(!) of bringing it today to the daylight.

For me no one has ever sung it as... "my Kalina"
