You may want to insert a movie into your PowerPoint presentation. You can insert a movie from a file on your computer or from the Microsoft Office clip organizer. In addition, PowerPoint gives you many options to define how the movie will operate in the presentation. In this lesson, you will learn how to insert two types of movies and define the movie options.

  • when i import my video in the slide i want the video to play directly when i go on the slide. i changed the properties "playing" to "true" but the video still doesn't play automatically when i enter that slide. pls reply if u know how to make the video play automatically!!

  • when you first insert the movie file a message pops up and asks if you want the file to play automatically or when clicked. are you using powerpoint 2007? if so, click on the options tab under movie tools on the ribbon. in the movie options group, select automatically from the drop down menu.

  • If the problem only happens when you view the presentation on another computer, you should use the pack and go feature before you view it on another computer or send it to someone via a disc. This feature bundles all of your files together.

  • If you import your video and hear it but don't see it, i would first check to make sure you are using a compatible file format. PowerPoint accepts the following file formats (.asf, .avi, .mpeg or .mpg, and .wmv).

  • hi there im having trouble with my presentation. at the moment i can only insert videos captured on my webcam, and videos that was emailed to me.. what i mean is that i can format these. but i cant input videos i downloaded using " insert/video/videofromfile. cause it ask for the correct paths. its frustrating trying to find a way through it. im hoping you can tell me how/where i can get the correct path so that i can use the insert option. i dont like using the developer option.

  • Thank you, this video was really helpful. Is there a way you can save presentations with macros? Because otherwise a dialog box appears explaining you can not save with macros.
