I know the Catholic Diocese will make very good use of this cathedral and organ.

PERFECT to my hears. So sad that one of the great organs in the world is being silences. and Paul Jacobs plays it with full command of the instrument!
-
Paul is a great organist though he not as fluid as Diane Bish in the final measure

@Branchporter ....ABSOLUTELY 100% AGREE!!!!!!!!

Who are the four knuckleheads who clicked dislike, either you made a fat finger error and really meant to like it or you have an intrinsic bias against the king of instruments.

@tmsenzig I believe the organ will get used as least three times the amount it did even when Mr. Swann was there. Reason: The amount of responses, hymns, and acclamations in the Catholic mass compared to the times the organ plays in the RCA worship service. We have the 4 hymns: gathering, prep of gifts, communion, and leavetaking, plus pennetential rite, gloria, resp psalm, gosp accl, Santus, mem accl, great amen, Lord's Prayer, and Lamb of God, plus prelude & postlude lots of organ.

@MrOrganist, the Crystal Cathedral and its 31 acre campus were puchased just a few weeks ago by the Catholic Diocese of Orange. It will eventually be rennovated into the Cathedral for the Catholic Diocese. Catholic Cathedrals tend to employ music programs that feature quality, time-honored, sacred music (rather than the happy-clappy dirges you hear in many parish churches today). Therefore I am confident that the organ will be retained in its current state as much as possible.
Paul's version is the best. Diana Bish has an impeccable execution, Paul
too, but Paul know to use better the pipes’ registers, so his pipe organ
become more expressive. Diana sing almost in same register ( all is
tutti all the time), so, her execution is missing the effects, dynamics, all is a flat strident sound. Paul’s sound is simply beautiful (bass sounds very nice, but Diana’s bas is missing or weak); Paul's dynamic is excellent (gradually from piano to forte).
