i mean the only time i would recommend speed shifting is when you know he is racing, i mean my dad got me his friends old 1986 80cc just little different but i mean you should just shift normaly

and iff he wants to race change just tell him to wait untill the higher end of the revs then the band will kick in and it should keep hold of the band even iff he changes normaly then he will be flying

it will eventualy stuff the clutch basket up. i had to buy a new clutch basket for my kx100 98 model an the guy i bought it off did race shifts cos he showed me him ridin it n thats what he didi will just stuff all the basket up.
