This is one pitch. The reason Ozzie had but a little power was due to his being Height: 5' 11", Weight: 150 lb. Now, give him some roids and he will look like Brett Boone who was 5-10, 180+. Ozzie hit 272 with St Louis over 15 seasons. Brett hit 266 over 14 seasons. Boone hit lots of HR's from 98 to 04 with most of them coming from 00-04. Hmmmm, wonder why? Rotational hitting is a joke and this video is meaningless unless you understand the impact of Roids on Baseball.
keep ur hands inside the baseball head down on the ball your hands come through the zone as ur hips open to creat room for the bathead to explose through the zone, all the while hitting off a stiff front leg and allowing maximum torque of your hips by supinating on your rear big toe. Thats how you drive a baseball and not hit one.
i Rally believe that the vast majority of hitters are a combination of rotational and linear hitting. we all have different swings. pete rose would never have griffeys swing and griifey would never have roses. As an intructional i believe in rotational mehanics much more than linear un les you are a singles hitter and depend on speed. i teach rotational more because i believe it shows a player how to use their entire body and balace, ususe those hips. if a kid is linear then let him be.
The definition of rotational mechanics is hips first, linear mechanics is hands and shoulders first, both styles use the hips, throwing the hands or rolling the hands has nothing to do with defining the two.
I think you may be wrong on your analysis of linear hitting.
From what I understand about LINEAR hitting is, at the point of heal plant, the hitters body continues a forward motion towards the pitcher.
Rotational hitters at heal plant stop any forward motion to the pitcher.
Another thing you mention is linear hitters lead with the knob of the bat. Your comments are correct, but what you left out is... rotational hitters also lead with the knob of the bat.
Hey, nice vid.......Im a linear hitter at the highschool level my self. Dont come across to many at the major league level im still lookn, kind of a lost art.

Linear hitting provides more power by about 20%.

In the Youtube search field type in:
Rotational Hitting Mike Epstein.
The Epstein video does not bash one style or the other, but does the best job I have ever seen in explaining the differences of the two styles.
