Just video of more spoonies all swimming around and flying right in my face out at the Great Salt Lake. Hunting out of a sled/coffin is one of the coolest things I've done.

  • Where are you at? i mean like what state you in??

  • @zachh72

We're in Utah. Thats just out on the flats long the Great Salt Lake. Pretty decent hunting sometimes. There are some freshwater inflows that hold the Mallards and other puddlers as well as some duck clubs and WMA's that the puddlers bail on when the freeze occurs.

  • dude th0se are mallards dumb crap

  • Sent you a message regarding your comment.... mallards huh? Have you ever seen Spoonies? Do you even duck hunt? Have you had ducks like these land ten feet from you not even knowing you were there? Better check your duck ID bud, because you're way off on this one. LOL

  • @Rivrrat77 Thats what i thought i go duck hunting up in northern utah Every year i live in Moab Utah but used to live in Pleasant view and kaysville No duck hunting down here really sucks.

  • @jakeallred1270605 .....There are mallards... but they're either over by SaltAir on the Kennecott ponds or all the way over by the clubs/Farmington on some freshwater flows. Gotta hike a ways but you can get a shot at some late season. Saw some GE's last year, a couple geese here and there and lots of swans late in the season. Don't see many divers on the south end unfortunately... at least not where I was at.

yeah we limited out every time we hunted out there. although spoonies are pretty much trash ducks they are still way fun. and if you cook em right they are ok. i have heard of pintails getting killed out there too.

  • @jakeallred1270605

I was out there last November with Rivrrat77 and we had a nice drake gadwall buzz through as we were cleaning up the dekes. You don't see too many puddlers out there, but if you don't mind shooting spoonies, and can be patient for the teal, its not a bad deal.

  • i have never seen one mallard out on that lake itself. all spoonies teal and and every once in a while you get a goldeneye or a merganser

  • Yeah, there are birds... obviously only when its butt numbing cold though. I feel bad that we hit my two "guaranteed spots" and got skunked. Oh well, cold weather will change that and I'll be tubing Farmington, I'm sure.
