  • how did you time it .....and do you have a timing retard that pulls time when boost comes in or did you lock it out

  • @Bigbriansc Nope.. You're probably confusing the 500 inch DRCE or Drag Racing Competition Engine block , with the Nascar block he's got here. And even the DRCE still only used BB chev internals, crank, cam, n gears, but NOT chevy heads.

A real NASCAR Olds 427 small block like this is rare, only about 300 were made. Design was based on the Olds diesel block, but with higher nickel content, thicker main webs , and cylinderwalls, etc. They don't twist apart when you step up to 4 digit HP #s.

  • @Bigbriansc no its not a chevy oldsmobile used there own blocks that had a different bore and stroke and different bolt patterns plus they had better compression

  • So its really a Chevy...Oldsmobile aftermarket block made for racing...for chevy

  • Diesel block, I'm just guessing.

  • nice power!

  • those nascar blocks can hold 1000 + hp if u find one ill buy it for ya. lol

  • This engine reminds me of an experimental Olds twin turbo alloy can am 455 engine from circa 1968. Olds briefly ran can am racing around 67-69 most notably with the Cro Sal group and something called a McKee Oldsmobile. 455ci, 659 hp,554lbs torque. Olds has some great pre 73 experimental engines that never saw the light of day: w-43, 0w-43. They were highlighted in an out of print book entitled: OLDSMOBILE THE PERFORMANCE YEARS by Martin Schorr published by Quicksilver supercar series in 1983.
