Anyway, Vic is holding down the groove for about half of this. Bass is an INCREDIBLY flexible instrument. It's great to take the lead, and it can be used to do so in amazing ways. But it's also very important to be able to hold it down with a drummer.
wow! what a great song! the way they used harmonics and melodies & counter melodies and the complete collaboration! and i agree with 4rainbowed! it's people like jaco and victor and gerald veasley that showed us that the bass is MUCH more than just a bunch of low notes! and i'm proud to call myself one!
