The hunt has traditionally provided Newfoundland fisherman their main source of 'disposable income'. Their seasonal fishing only provides of source of subsistance. It is the money they earn from the hunt which allows the to buy improvements for their homes and families.
WHEN YOU GRIPE ABOUT THE HUNT YOU ARE TAKING AWAY IMPORANT INCOME FROM NEWFOUNDLAND FAMILIES...SO **** OFF!

Important income?? Who are you kidding? Seal's skin is sold for more or less $14 canadian dollars. You call that important income??? Seal meat is also considered as a useless reason to kill these unsuspecting animals. Since Canada is highly successful country when it comes to their economy, tell me why the hell can't they find something more decent to make money off? Do you think God created seals just to be shot, clubbed and dragged on the ice??

"Millions and millions of dollars are being spent on fighting quote unquote this issue, there are a lot more pressing issues in the world to worry about - animal welfare issues - than a fairly small hunt of an animal that isn't endangered. As long as it [the seal hunt] is done in a humane way, it almost seems like a waste of time and money really."
