Yes there can be great qualities in live recordings. I used to make ornamental ironwork and when asked to make things too exactly to size and shape a subtle quality was lost, ie things looked machine made and characterless.
I feel the same is true of singing sometimes the flawless studio recording looses that intangible humanity?
No one can produce studio perfection better than Sumi Jo but she definitely knows how to please her audience as well.
