Its a good idea for learning pronounciation for beginners, but its kinda limited because some sounds just cant be reproduced using sounds from someones native language. Like If I were trying to use sounds from English to reproduce a word with a rr sound in spanish, like carretera, it wouldn't work. If youre going to use word association you should also emphasize the differences in the language too.
