The Norwegian kick-sled, aka the Spark (ie. to kick), is an old traditional form of transportation when icy, snow covered roads won't allow other forms of transportation.

This video makes an attempt to revive an old traditional, yet awesome, form of transportation. ;)

  • im in nova scotia love to have one. where in canada can i get one? can u put brakes on it? ty kasen

  • We had a pair of them in the 80's, the classic wood design with the seat that worked great for our kids. I recently got the new Kik Spark model with the single metal post and bicycle-type handlebars -- at Alaska Mill in Anchorage. It's a great workout, just be prudent on the downhills because it'll get you going faster than you want in about 4 heartbeats. Highly recommended for frozen lakes.

  • i living in sweden and its very fun to have a spark

  • got one :P //Sweden

  • Agree dude, i just found one in the garage of our new house in Asker, Norway.

It is so easy and fast enough to frighten you on the downward slopes!

  • where can i get one of these?

  • The swedish spark is used in all nordic countries. What is the proof that it has a norwegian origin? That you say so is not a proof. All though the bicycle is used in our country I dont take for granted that it is invented here. The bicycle was developed in England and France. Take care..

  • Daan and Trine -- thanks so much for posting this! When I was young, my (American) familiy and I used to travel from the U.K. to Geilo each year at this time to go skiing, and I fell in love with these great things. I searched on the Internet for a video to try to show my wife and kids these things, and how cool and effective they are. Thanks so much for the effort it took to make and post this (good music, too!) and HAPPY NEW YEAR! - Richard B, Stockton, NJ USA, about 60 km from Philadelphia
