I made this tribute from photos my husband brought home from Christchurch following his stint working there as an Emergency Management officer for Auckland. The stills were taken by a number of volunteer urban Search and Rescue crews from all over NZ who worked to clear debris and assist following the 7.1 Earthquake on 4th Sept 2010.
The majority of the people pictured are Civil Defense Volunteers who give up their time to train for just such an emergency. A number of those involved were from the Canterbury Region and were working to clear the properties of others even though their own homes were damaged.
