  • Thanks for the comments, everyone!

  • It's excellent! I'm considering to play this piece for an audition, any future advice on this piece for me?

  • Wow, it's been so long since I worked on this piece, and I've done so many different things on my other pieces, that I've really forgotten most of the things specific to this one!! But some of my other comments probably mention some important things. I do remember concentration on dynamics and intonation. At that time, I was in the middle of a huge project improving my bow arm.

  • I had a new teacher and needed to improve pretty much everything about my playing, so I don't remember anything specific to that particular piece. But the biggest overall things I've found about playing: Pay special attention to dynamics. The people in the back of the audience shouldn't have to wonder "Is this loud or soft...?" You need, however hard, to develop relaxed hands (your teacher can really help with that if you ask).

  • You should practice with drones of the key the piece is in for intonation (for instance, put on a c drone if it's in the key of c). And my personal favorite thing to pay attention to: the notes that don't fit into the chord being played by piano/orchestra are the ones that are interesting. They deserve special vibrato =)

  • more vibrato would be better

  • For virbrato or for dynamics? Do you mind me asking what a drone is? Sorry I'm still not very familiar with some terms violin or string instrument wise. Also do you recommend this or the meditation from Thais by I think Massanet, for an audition? I plan to only learn the first movement or so for the Hyden.

  • mm yah my bow arm isn't all that well refined yet. I have problems with the intonation of pieces so this will be a challenge for me. Thanks so much for the advice. I just got a new teacher as well and he has to help fix 2 years of horrible posture. For dynamics I think I might not make everything as forte and piano as you suggest though, because I plan to only play this piece for a single person perhaps to for my audition although I will try for a greater contrast between them. Relaxed hands?

  • That was very well played!

  • see, its videos like this that prove that this piece was made for violin and orchestra.
