Dr. J. Buzz Von Ornsteiner aka Dr. Buzz is questioned by Jami Floyd on the forensic treatment for the individuals found to be criminally insane.
The topic comes from the murder trial of Michelle Kehoe.
Michelle Kehoe was accused of driving her two children to a pond near Littleton, where she covered their faces with duct tape before slicing their throats with knife on Oct. 26, 2008. Two-year-old Seth Kehoe died in the attack. His 7-year-old brother, Sean, survived. Michelle Kehoe's attorney didn't dispute the facts of the case but argued that Kehoe
suffered from a mental illness and couldn't fully understand her actions. From July to October 26, 2008, Kehoe had thoughts of suicide as the only way out, according to Dr. Logans evaluation of her.
As in the past, she didnt vocalize her suicidal thoughts to her husband or to those around her. Kehoe began to think that her children might be better off dead, fearing that they may have inherited her mental illness. She plotted to kill her sons and herself for two months before carrying out the acts on Sunday, October 26, 2008. The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning its verdict early Thursday afternoon. The panel found the 36-year-old Coralville woman guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder and child endangerment.
She faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison. Dr. Buzz and television host Jami Floyd discuss psychological treatment for the criminally insane; prison vs. long term mental health treatment within a instutional setting.

  • I agree with Ms. Floyd that you, Dr. Buzz, are "da man!" You are very knowledgeable on so many different areas of mental health, and have a very strong humanitarian view of those who are ill.

I would like to know how you became a Doctor and have so much experience in your field when you are so young?

    Just wondering,
