  • Why are people saying this is cheating? When the idea of playing a drum with a foot pedal was first invented, people probably called that cheating too...

When electric instruments were developed, people probably called those cheating.

Playing music is about being creative, and making something out of the equipment you have (no matter what it is). But then... some people get so obsessed with having better "technique" than other people, they forget that music is supposed to be creative.

  • @TheGreatWhiteTimmy the pedal have 2 switches ,one in right and another in left side .when you press the left switch,,the pedal works with 2 beaters, and when you press right switch ,the pedal works with one beater........the switches can be changed with the heal....

  • @Evenhandedview it's ok to choose :) i like the technic being somthing super-human

  • @queenday15 Why does it have to be hard to be worth it? Ever heard of the phrase, "work smart, not hard"?

  • It's not cheating unless the equipment does the work for you. The fact that you have to use your heel to make the extra hits means it's not cheating. Saying that is cheating is like saying dudes who use the heel-toe method are cheaters. You would not call it cheating unless you are jealous of the technique being used or don't understand what the pedal is doing. You are still forced to create every hit your self using the impulses you send to your muscles via thought. How is that cheating?

  • Cool pedal. I like it.

  • i want technic to be hard!!! i like the play on "hard" instead of "god mode"

  • @kevluvzchips Creativity in music best describes originality, not just the act of creating music. Your definition would mean that all music is creative, which we both know is not true.

  • @falconer6439 I refer you to my previous comment about music being about creativity, not technique. Technique is merely something that is used to achieve a creative vision. It doesn't make you creative.

  • @kevluvzchips Also its not a "shortcut", just like programming drums and pantomiming the motion along with the other aforementioned cheapness is not. Its disingenuous at best.

  • @kevluvzchips It only takes less skill if you arent doing anything that cant be done with a single pedal. Unless youre going to be doing bass rolls I completely agree there is no reason to have a double pedal (just look at Zach Hill), not everything is possible with a single pedal. Aside from that the comparison is ridiculous, no matter how you slice it whether using a double or a single, each strike is a concerted effort by the drummer using nothing more than technique.

  • @falconer6439 Shortcut? Sure, I'll give you that. That's exactly what this is. Well done.

Using the word "cheating" in the context of music is still nonsense though no matter how strongly you feel. By "cheating" what you actually mean is "I (as in you) think this is lazy and therefore don't like it".

Yes this pedal takes less skill to use than a double bass pedal. But then a double bass pedal takes less skill than doing the same thing on a standard single pedal. The list goes on.
