  • When you sharpen your pencil, do you reset the level to keep you fit?

  • @Logworker1 We usually managed to scribe a whole log without resetting. Even though sharpening does alter the setting a bit, it's still close enough.

  • I am in the beginning stages of building my own log cabin. I have a site picked out and cleared. My next stage is to cut my logs. I will be documenting my build and when finished next fall I will post as a video response. I am going to find this video very helpful through out the next year. Awsome vid. 5 Stars !!!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. Looking forward to yours, too. Good luck with your project!

  • how do you figure out where to set the gap for your scribe?

    Thank You,

  • We set the scribe at least as wide as the widest gap between the logs, and usually aimed to notch the top log about half way through its thickness at the corner.

We also had to consider the next log; if this one was much thicker than the next, we would notch this one a bit deeper to reduce the rise. Otherwise the notches in the next log would become too deep.

    Cheers.

  • nice but would like to see finish product

  • Can you imagine the work back in the old south notching those logs out with an axe,Ballsy people back then

  • Thanks for posting. These skills are just as important as a debris shelter.

  • AND WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?

    1. IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT

    2. USE POWER TOOLS

    3. WTF IS IT?

  • The Montana School of Log Building has a bulls-eye scriber that marks with a Sharpie pen. It is easier to see the line and it always remains accurate...no shortening pencil problem,

  • good job!

  • this is not a lean 2 this is awsome!

  • THANKYOU FOR POSTING FRIENDS
