A scene of Glenda Farrell in her greatest role, that of Teresa "Torchy" Blane. In this scene, Torchy is talking to Jane Wyman's character, Dixie the hat-check girl. Interestingly, Jane Wyman would later take on the role of Torchy Blane in one of the nine Torchy Blane movies. Although very talented, she was not cut out for playing Torchy Blane, and was not nearly as good in the role as Glenda Farrell. "Torchy Blane.. Playing with Dynamite", the film in which Wyman starred, is reputed to have killed the series, as they couldn't get Glenda Farrell back, due to contract reasons, and audiences didn't accept Wyman in the role. This is from the 1936 Torchy Blane movie "Smart Blonde".

  • Lola Lane also played Torchy Blane in one of the other 6 films. That's likely where Joe Shuster got the idea for the name Lois Lane.

  • @Ssrn53

Yes, Shuster and Siegel have stated in interviews that they based Lois Lane on Glenda Farrell's portrayal of Torchy Blane, but named her after Lola Lane.
