I hade this beer but havn't uploaded my review yet cheer's. BTW I didnt really notice spice in it. A little colder and the taste that is supposed to be plum taste like cherry to me but when it was a bit warmer I could notice plum and mine ever over flowed at all. They supposably also got a blonde at same %. I do have a herbal better alcoholic review up in the mean time. Plus I can garentie a Canadian made Russian imperial stout for an upcoming review & more cheer's.

@elharlock uh, most German or west Slavic dark lagers , have quite a bit of carbonation, so have to open the bottle cap slowly

Affligem is not a Trappist Ale, but it is an Abbey Ale. All Trappist beers are Abbey beers, however not all Abbey beers are Trappist.

Now thats what i call an un-edited beer review ;)
What would you say is your favourite of the three aflegems?
Heh.
I'd say that this one, the Dubbel, was my fave. Reminded me of Chimay Grande Reserve (Chimay Blue) quite a bit. The other two were just okay. For example, I'd take the Leffe Blond ofer Affligem Blond any day. It would be akin to taking Anchor Steam over a decent macro lager.

@elharlock That's surprising for you to say that. I just tried Leffe recently for the first time. Blond and Brun. Found both disgusting - almost like a commercial imitation. I don't know if there was something wrong with the bottles, or what. The reviews were mostly positive. Oh, well.

@chapaev36 Maybe your bottle went bad. For the record, over the last year since I made that post, I've actually grown to love Affligem Blond more than Leffe Blond.
