It Doesn't Rhyme With Sleet
by Dre Babinski
It's Christmas time, but I don't know what it is. (why don't you guess?)
It's not for swine like me or bacon bits. (that's not a guess)
Something's in the atmosphere,
it isn't what you think.
It isn't rain or snow and it doesn't rhyme with sleet.
It's one thing that keeps me awake.
I'm talking about sugar in your cereal (it's sweet enough),
salt on the dinner table (oh yuck)
"We're too busy buying gifts to care about what's in our kids."
Packaged and frozen meals, parents that are vegetables.
"It's too cold to go outside, so heat up something that was fried."
The kids are singing, "Candy! Mommy! Please, oh can we?"
"Tis the season to be kind, so eat whatever you may find."
"Daddy! Mommy! Gees, why can't we fall asleep?"
"It's not my responsibility."
There's always something nice that we can hide behind,
Like spreading Christmas cheer, but I think I'll sit out another year.
