Day 2 -- 18 foot Skiffs World Championships -- Mark Foy Regatta
(No Racing on day 1 due to weather conditions)
The schedule for the day was 3 races back to back. The breeze was forecast N/E 15-20kts which was delivered and all skiffs went with their no. 2 rigs.
The racing commenced on a turning tide which whipped up a confused sea state that made the conditions challenging. There was plenty of carnage on the 1st downwind 2 sail reaching in lumpy seas and tested all the crews abilities as the wind speed increased.
C-Tech, Alex Vallings, showed good speed to lead but closely followed be CST and DeLongi. C-Tech increased their lead with CST stretching out on DeLongi and then Maersk Line. On the last windward leg C-Tech and CST failed to cover DeLongi which picked up a right hand shift and lead at the last mark from C-Tech and CST. On the downwind to the finish Maersk come through to finish 3rd behind DeLongi and CT.
The next 2 races became a 3 boat competition with C-Tech getting through the win race 2 and CST pipping DeLonghi for 2nd. CST and C-Tech had a close tussle in race 3 with CST getting home 1st and DeLongi 3rd.
3 races are scheduled for tomorrow with a forecast for lighter breeze.

Day 3 -- 12 foot Skiffs 52nd Interdominions
Today was another good day on the Auckland harbor.
Most were at the ramp by 10 with a 1pm start. It was pretty drifty looking out on the water but within the space of about 15 mins the wind built to a solid 15-17 kts 20 degrees off north. Everyone opted for their second rigs and headed for the start. The 18 were off first with a clear start and the sequence rolled straight into it for the 12's the course was the northerly course starting near wharf mark heading to rough rock buoy with a tight kite ride to bean rock then a hang it hard kite and two sail to wharf buoy. It was then back to rough rock and a downwind sleigh ride to the finish making a triangle and windward leeward.

Race 5 was taken out by Gemmell sails followed by Frankie and Garde.

Race 6 Was won by Garde after the lead boat absolute cnc had disaster strike on the last downwind leg and having to finish without a kite. 2nd was gemmell sails followed by C-tech.

Tomorrow is forecast for 15 kts again from the same direction and should provide some more great sailing. The following day is a reserve day and I am sure there will be some battered and bruised sailors looking for a rest.
