2007 Mazdaspeed 3 with 57k miles on it. MODS: CP-e CAI, JB SSP, ebay RP, turbosmark BPV, drilled and slotted brakes, denso sparks.

Sounds like the car is idling a bit rough. kinda sounds like it has bad gas in it. I'm not totally sure because it sounds like it goes away when i rev it. Any feedback is appreciated

  • That noise sounds like your timing belt tightener, I just got mines replaced by Mazda said I was lucky I brought it in early

  • I have a 2011 mazdaspeed 3. It had that noise and they didn't know what it was. I told them it was the timing chain. They changed the tensioner and it still had the noise. I took it again. I guess they tightened up the screws because the noise is gone. Bottom lin, mazda techs have no clue what they are doing. They are just part swappers. Can't fix a damn thing.

  • Vvt tensioner

  • Either timing chain tensioner or vvt actuator.

  • @grunt4L

i'll look into it. thanks for the tip and not being an ass hole like a lot of other people.

  • @soaringeagle129

Well then you must need a new distributor, sounds like your timing is off just a bit.
