just not settling and doing what thousands do all over this country. And beside from the ingredients the places this show usually highlights are places that do things different in the recipe department. I saw an episode where a diner crushed up the cereal, Captain Crunch, and made Captain Crunch crusted French toast. Another place made their own soda! An Italian place boiled down the tomatoes and grew the basil and oregano for a three-day process to make their pasta and pizza sauce.
because of the show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. That show highlights people making great food, using the highest quality product really striving to do something thats going out of style cook real food. Making their own pizza dough, grinding meats, grinding spices, making sausage, making their own mayonnaise and hot sauce and BBQ sauce, saving parts of veggies not used to make stock, making their own pasta, using organic and local product
I agree. When I saw them on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, I was kind of excited to hear about one in Michigan. I actually contemplated making the 2 hour drive over there. All the girls were wearing the 50's style uniforms and it all looked so nice. Then I saw they weren't really making a lot of creative food or anything special. They were using canned soups instead of making their own stocks and not grinding their own meats or spices.. stuff like that; things that have really piqued my interest
I ate at Rosie's Diner last week, I have to say that the food wasnt too bad, but i was a little disappointed that the diner looks a little worse for wear, and it looked like it needed some good cleaning and some repair work, and where is the 50's jukebox music? and what happened to the waitress's 50's uniforms? come on, if your going to do it, do it right!
Sad that it's now closed. Hope someone buys it and opens for business again.
