  • Ive been been a cutter for about a year now once in a while we get different sizes in the reams any advice usually on 10c envelopes

  • the clamp hose should not be going over the clamp either. if the machine malfuntions, you will have one hell of a oil spill.

  • on a php there is a piece of plastic that you lay the paper on. rule of thumb is if you cant fit the life of paper under the clamps it is to big of a lift. when you program the machine for a certain job, you set the ram hieght in occordance to the die you are using. the clamps on a php are designed to give optimal pressure at 2 and a half inches. i programmed phps for 16 years.

  • @wjvman He said that.s a pretty big ream. He should have said that''s a pretty big lift instead. A ream is 500 sheets no matter what the base weight is You said no all reams are 500 sheets that is not correct.A ream of sub 20 measures 2 1/4 and a ream of sub 32 measures 3 1/2 inches. But a ream is a ream 500 sheets of paper

  • @donr1954 - The problem here is that not all reams (500 sheets) are the same thickness, unfortunately, the metal die only has a fixed blade depth, therefore, what the man said is correct, some reams can be cut and some can't, i.e. all reams may have the same number of sheets, but they are not all the same stack height, and some are bigger than others.

  • I am the engineer/programmer for this machine and it is designed to constantly look for any electrical current flow from the die to any grounded metal part of the machine. If it detects more 5 ma of current it will fire the Ram-Up solenoid within 0.002 sec. which in the seven years of experience we have with the machines, usually prevents any serious damage.

  • @wjvman If the die comes in contact with a clamp it will still do some damage before it stops. We just did an upgrade on one of ours because the computer died. The new program that was developed does not have this safety feature. We messed up some dies when we first got it.

  • Note to OghamTheBold: Machine has light curtain safety shield, plus operator must have hands on Start Cut - Push Buttons before the press will energize. Also the cutting die is electrically safety switched to retract hydraulic cylinder if the die makes contact with any of the clamps or metal parts of press. There are also hand and foot step ESTOP switches if operator senses any problems.

  • A ream is not what you throw up there. A ream is 500 sheets. A supervisor should know that.
