They meet two other characters on the way, two immortals called Pigsy and Sandy.
I didnt notice Sandy in the game, but I got to talk to one of the games developers at a festival and he told me that over the course of the game the idea they had for Sandy got worn down and became what the collectibles are somehow.
Also, just soz ya know, Journey to the West follows a stone monkey who becomes a god.
He has a metal staff that he can expand to any size he wants it to, and he has the ability to fly on clouds (that will be referenced later on in the game).
The monk in the story isn't Monkey, Monkey is forced to protect a monk called Tripitaka whilst he journeys to the west.

He didn't explain exactly how it happened though.

I really enjoyed this game!
I was really hoping it would be more related to the original story since I LOVE Journey to the West, but the game is damn damn good.
