In deed a rotary properly built can rev 14 k,with no failure, most race cars add castor bean oil to the coolant and gas take for lubrication.
-
@drbaltazar ughh the 2 stroke oil deal
-
each rotation gives 3 combustion per rotor your piston engine only gives one per 2 rotation if i recall correctly.that why you cannot ever rev a cold wankel.and you have to add 2 stroke with the gas ,plus change your oil every 3000 mile and if you race you might have to change it every 1000 mile.

its all about the manual trans renesis. i got one. and its actually bad for the engine not to run it up till the 9k beep once every time you turn it on. maybe even a few times if you get racin ;)

A fine engine indeed

@REtiRO location of the exhaust ports thats the only big difference

What is the difference between this and the rx7 13b... Other then it being NA..

THIS IS FOR ALL THE IDIOTS OUT THERE!!!
rotary fuel consumption: the reason why a rotary engine has a somewhat large fuel consumption is that every rotation there is fuel being injected and ignited, where as a cylinder engine is a 4 stroke engine and has a stroke in between power strokes where there is no injection and ignition happening.

Thank you! finally somebody who knows what they are talking about. And wow to the 12A. I have not heard of anybody with one of those in quite sometime.

whats with all the negative on this post, EVERYONE who knows anything about the REW knows its better, the renesis is just a stupid attempt at good fuel economy- My 81 with the 12a gets right at 30 highway and you can't beat that with just side port exhausts
renesis stock redline is at 9k, not 8k. unless you have the 4 port automatic engine. the redline is set because of transmission failures above 10k, the stock engine is safe until 14k. but your clutch isn't.

Actually they do have a redline at 8000RPM. The ECU won't allow revving past that point, but the engine will actually go farther i'm sure.
I drive a car with an earlier rotary known as the 12a, and with stock internals it's seen 9000 a few times while racing and the redline for that engine was 7000. it never gave me trouble, then the engine wanted to keep going, it just keeps making more and more power the higher you rev it.
