There's no question in my mind that Brian McKnight was one of thee voices of R&B during the 90s.
There's not a grain of doubt on my part. I guess you can say it's undeniable.
I'll even be blunt to say that Back at One is one of my favorite R&B songs ever. From the ingenious piano roll in the beginning to the hook, this song really does take me back.
Since winter is rolling into the NYC Tri-state area these next few weeks, I thought I'd put you in the proper mood with this record. It's the perfect feel for what I call "Get-a-Girlfriend" season.
Back at One was released in 1999 and it reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 where it stayed put for 8 consecutive weeks.

The video is displaying that Brian McKnight is on a plane going down and the song is his profession of his love for his significant other. It explains everything he could possibly have said in the short time before the plane crashed and his untimely death. Him walking and whispering to her is basically representative of his spirit telling her he loves her and everything is going to be okay although he's gone. That's how I interpret the video. Love the song.

BTW... If you love someone, cherish them every day... Miss them when you do... Hug them when you can and kiss them when it counts... Because you just never know when they are gone... This is coming from someone who knows... : (
