In light of this opening, it's intresting to note that Craig Hanarth, who played bass in Kids In the Kitchen, went on to work for ABCTV. He provided music for such programmes as Funky Squad and Frontline.

this sign-on is pure awesomeness

The coolest thing I've ever seen. The voice over gives a nice, intimite, touch.

@francis1971 Yes, a rare victory of secularism over religion!
-
@tawansweden They did cut off a christmas song after a few seconds for the National Anthem.

2:47 in all likelihood I took that tram. Thanks for the flashback to my teenage years!

Brilliant video. Just awesome

Watching this reminds me of an ABC startup that featured information about the new services available via AUSSAT (either before it started or soon after). Did anyone happen to record it? Would love to see that video again! (it was about 5 minutes long or so)

On testcard? Don't know!! But it's christmas song!
What song is it? Is it a special one written for ABC?

I think it was a top 40 single by 1980s Aussie band Kids in the Kitchen, titled 'Change in Mood'.
