  • @jjam3774 makes ME want to sell my 1963 living room queen B3 and 122. And I have even transcribed some of his solos... but learned a lot.

  • Sounds like a REALLY nice session - thanks for the upload!

  • @pzcato thanks a bunch! much appreciated

  • there is one jazz song that starts out with the melody an old fashioned clock has when it strikes the hour. anyone know what song I am talking about? I think it might have a similar title to thos on (involving numbers) or does anyone know of any other classic jazz songs that have numbers in the title? thanks

  • Joey DeFrancesco takes the B3 and makes it astonishing to listen to. He's good to hang with and he's a nice guy. Very, very funny. He is a genius on the Hammond...and if you think he's a bitch on organ--wait til you hear him play piano. That's pure brain damage...

  • @GeorgiaBoy As I already stated, I never claimed to be a Wes impersonator, I'm only playing a tune that he wrote. I was just trying to make general statements to get my point across, and now you're analyzing the semantics of my octaves comment? I didn't post this video, I just happened to be playing my normal Sunday gig when someone video taped it and posted it. I was improvising, and whatever I sounded like is how I was playing in that moment. Please don't condescending, I've paid my dues.

  • @misteredwino: A lot of guys think they sound like Wes, but no one really does, not even the best players in the world. Alot of guitarists have tried, and alot of guitarists have failed to cop Wes' sound accurately. There's much more to him than octaves; his stuff is very complex and not at all easy to play well. So, a little humility might be in order.

  • @jjam3774 I'm sure the other soloists feel the same way. He swung harder, was more harmonically sophisticated, and had a lot more technical ability than the other guys. On the bright side, I'm glad he took the last solo. I used to wonder why anyone would have Michael Brecker play the first solo...
