5th recording, and my 2nd jig that I've posted. Those out there who actually know what they're doing, please don't kill me! I've been playing for 8 months, and I don't have a teacher and no formal musical training of any kind with any instrument, I'm posting these recordings in hopes that folks that really are into traditional Irish music can provide constructive critisism and tips so that I can improve.

  • lots of places to get sheet music, online. i actually recently recieved a gift from my dad of a big yellow book that has over a thouzand songs in it. now if i can stop being lazy and begin to really learn to read music. I know FACE and EBGDF but that's all i know, I don't know how to read the timing or the beats and such yet.

  • thanks I start lesssons saturday. it took a year of going at it on my own and not stopping to finally convince my folks to let me take lessons =) so I'm excited about that.

  • I've gotten a whole lot better with this song. I really should do a take two of it. Since I first started playig the tin whistle I really havent' learned many new songs, I've just obsessively hammered at the ones I initially learned. oh good news btw, soon I'll be taking lessons =D I can't wait XD

  • m8 cool

  • Very Good! Doesn't have all the little flourishes a pro puts in there, but a solid performance. Keep playing!

BTW, you can click 'Reply' out to the side of someone's comment, and they'll get a little email with your reply (if they set it up to do so). Otherwise, they won't know you replied unless they come see the vid again. Maybe you knew this, I don't know.

  • sounds good to me...

  • do you read notes or tabs?

...and can you tell me where you get the sheet music please? :)

  • Not bad, but from my 20 years of listening and 10 playing, I can hear you're not quite "trad" yet, but a very talented musician nonetheless. KEEP IT UP! A little more bounce, and sessioning with experienced whistlers will have you sounding like you just got off the boat. I'm looking forward to hearing your progress. We need MORE whistlers with your potential!

  • you keep time as well as most professional musicians. That makes everything sound better.
