Hey there everyone, VT-1 Gym in Sydney, Australia has a new Critical BJJ Technique series video available for you guys. This week we continue the series of working from on top in your opponent's half guard. The technique involves stepping over to what you might call, reverse or switch base half guard. From there we're going to start off with a grip similar to the ninja choke you might have seen from side control. In order to finish the choke you step over the head with your free leg and you can get a powerful torque on the choke in that position. Check out the video, test it out and let us know what you think.

Hey Liam
Ive been trying a lot of stuff from reverse half guard, including the choke you demonstrate here. With very limited success however.
When I left my head of my opponents chest to either feed a lapel, or throw the leg over, most guys are just bridging hard into me and we end up in a scramble.
Any tips for locking the guy down, and taking the power out of their bridge from this position?

@blakgsr Hey blakgsr, the best option is always to pass of course, some people like the kimura from here to but to make this position work and to use it effectively you need to control his chin with your forearm or your shoulder depending on which phase of the technique you are into. This applies to side control etc of course. Otherwise timing is important of course.
