This is a video showing the keyboard and text input improvements on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by Google.

If I left out anything, please tell me in the comments!

ROM I'm using is a port of the Desire S AOSP ICS effort to the Desire Z by xT4Z1N4TRx. Version used is Beta5r2.

It can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374927

The ROM is quite buggy for the time being, but good for demo purposes. I'm back to CM7 for the time being.

  • Does other keyboard replacements work well n smooth..n how is overall smoothness of ics on desirez..i have a desire i was not sure is i should use the new ics custom roms

  • @zafriluv I haven't bothered to try replacement KBs when testing out the ICS ROM in the video. Thus far I've read that most functions of ICS have been successfully ported to lots of devices, including your Desire, with the exception of the camera due to kernel differences. HW acceleration is fixed in most ICS ROMs so smoothness shouldn't be a problem I guess. The biggest concern is the camera, which doesn't work for my DZ ports. You should check out the corresponding HTC Desire threads in XDA.
