@GeneralGrin What are you talking about???? SGU is full of Sci-fi!! Have you completely missed the second season? What do you have yo say about Twin Destinies? That is the best hour of sci-fi I have EVER seen on Television.

@fmcc0904 I enjoyed the characters, actually. they were far more interesting and engaging. notably rush, young, eli and greer; but characters like park and volker and camille and scott and etc were just as engaging and, ultimately, likeable.

@GeneralGrin No sci-fi? For crying out loud, the show features a ship that recharges by collecting hydrogen from a star and aerobrakes around gas giants! Entire plots revolved around things like binary star pulsars, specific properties of blue supergiant stars, gravitational slingshotting, and Von Neumann machines. Not to mention Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation being a huge part of the main plot of the show. I'd argue that's more sci-fi than whatever technobabble gibberish SGA and SG-1 did

@GeneralGrin lol soup opera

Nice parody, even if it does use "Saw."
I gave up on this series after 6 episodes. I just found it so dull and uninteresting I found myself wondering why I should even bother with it.

@GeneralGrin In fact, most of the episodes have action e.g. Alien ships attack, suspense as the countdown is decreasing, explosions..... there was only one pregnancy, and that was only because they had to write it in becuase the actress was pregnant. There was actually quite a lot of comedy through Eli, Volker and Brody.... And, there was a story, every episode that included sci-fi.......do you want me to continue, or do you catch my drift?

Good things about Stargate: 1. Film 2. First three episodes of SG1. Everything after that is just its parasite.
I just caught the last half of an episode of SGU today and I hate to say that I enjoyed it. It wasn't scifi, but rather simple drama on a ship with a random course or something. It might not have been award wining, but it was better than any Stargate show I had ever seen perhaps even better than the 1994 film.

@Treknologist i prefer Sci-fi shows myself. and not drama shows that happen to be set on a ship

@GeneralGrin I completely agree. But what's Sci-fi without drama? Or comedy, or action?
spacecowboy5000 1 year ago
@spacecowboy5000 all those things should be included too.
problem with SGU is that there is almost no sci-fi, no story, very little comedy, very little action, and very bad drama (teenage relationships, unexpected pregnancy, and all the old cliche' soup opera stuff)

@GeneralGrin how can you say SGU had no sci-fi? that's unbelievable!!!
MrTexasFree 3 weeks ago
@MrTexasFree it had sci-fi but it was only the background setting and not central to the story at all. the story was mostly about these characters who got stuck. very little actual sci-fi stories, at least in season 1
