One foggy Sunday October morning at the Nine Ladies stone circle, Stanton Moor, Derbyshire, we were packing up our tents and stuff, with one of those clockwork radios stuck in one of the trees, blasting out Classic FM. The wood ants, who were busy doing their Sunday morning foraging, seemed to enjoy the melodic sounds coming from the radio, and here's the result, set to Bedrich Smetana's Vltava, which was playing at the time (thus the background coughs from Alex the Hairy Poet). The ants seem to have been intrigued by this strangely melodic alien object (a bit like that episode of the Clangers!) and scurried around as if their new purpose in life was to star in a segment of 'Fantasia' or 'Microcosmos'!
No special lenses were used and the footage was enlarged in various editing and effects software programs. Hope you enjoy, and no smarmy comments from idiotic Americans with nothing better to do with their time please!
