EDIT: This is the old firmware, the new firmware makes this faster!

A video showing how long the F900 takes to boot up. This is AFTER the firmware update. This unit runs a version of Windows, so that is why the boot up is about 1:20-1:30 before full use.

  • so 45sec to turn the radio on? or is it taking that long because it's hooked up to your ipod?

I'm considering getting this...do you recommend it at all? thanks

  • This is the OLD firmware. The 2.0 upgrade made the boot up MUCH MUCH faster! I love the unit, highly recommend it.

  • The 2.0 Firmware has been released and addresses system boot-up time, along with other features. Head to the PioneerMobile channel for all the details and let us know your experiences.

  • Yeah, I'll do that.

  • Anyone know if the F700 will be just as fast? I have no intention on using the DVD playback!

  • Should be the same... it's almost the exact same system, just minus the DVD drive.

  • yeah, it took so long because of the ipod...

a cd / dvd reproducing even mp3 is much faster

  • i have a 120GB HDD hooked with my kenwood DDX-512 with garmin navi.

all songs in folders and sub folders work flawlessly. Does this pioneer model support Hard Disk drive? im not into ipods so before i buy this model i want to know. thanks in advance.

  • i have the same headunit... and would just like to say firstly the new firmware makes it much quicker..secondly the signal you are receiving from your gps affects the start up time... if you have a strong signal it will load up quicker much quicker than a lower signal and also if you have a lot of songs on a sd card or a usb / ipod it will take longer... but if you have nothing in or just a cd it is much quicker ! just a few hints to people !

  • no, i have a 4gb hooked up to it right now...

  • is it true that f900 only supports 2GB of usb device? can use external hdd?

  • after firmware 2.0 update it still takes about 38 seconds for iPod to play music.

  • "it helps to tap your foot" -- lol! Awesome bro! Thanks for the video -- I think I'm sitll gonna get this for my STI too. Try out the Bluetooth, if you can, and let me know how the handsfree works.

  • Gratz on the CAR - Subie Foz ;-)Have you considered the JVC KW-NX7000 instead? I'm deciding still on which to get the Pioneer or the JVC your input is appreciated. I also heard the 2.0 update for the Pioneer solves the boot-up time.

    Cheers.
