This is a Press Conference held in Duluth Minnesota to announce the results of our renter survey and to support the recently released HUD Memo "strongly encouraging" smoke-free housing.
Methodology
The 2008 study contains the results of a survey administered to 563 randomly selected renters in Lake, St. Louis, and Carlton counties. Professional interviewers conducted the survey by telephone between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. between September 10 22, 2008. The typical respondent took 8 minutes to complete the questionnaire. The reliability of the results for the 563 completed interviews with residents of northeastern Minnesota is +/- 4.12 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
The American Lung Association in MN is a non-profit organization with the mission to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. The goal of our smoke-free housing program is to work together with landlords, tenants, and the community to voluntarily increase the number of smoke-free apartments in Northeastern Minnesota to better meet the high demands of tenants seeking a healthy, smoke-free environment in which to live.
