The 28 years is only one problem with this design. I'm not going to pick it apart here but I'll say I don't see any strengths other than a good marketing plan.

Please take some to research wind turbine design, start with Wiki.

People aren't going to get serious about alt-energy if they know someone who bought into a scam like this one.

As P.T.Barnum would say "There's a sucker born every minute"

The average wind speed where I live is MPH. My electric rate is $0.08/kWh, multiple that by 2000 kWh/year and my saving is $160/year. Divide that into the $4500 cost and it will take 28 years to pay back the cost of the unit. A lot more than the 4-5 years stated on the earthtronics site.
It's BS like this that turns people off to alt-energy.

I don't know where you live but most places offer federal and state rebates fir these. Their 4-5 year estimate may be highly exaggerated but I'm sure with rebates it could be very well lower than 28 years. Also keep in mind that the electric rate may be much higher for some areas and they may have used an average that may be higher than your current rate.

Or I can buy a 1kW turbine and a grid tie inverter for less than 1/2 the price and produce 4 times the power.

Do some looking around

Very true, I never claimed to know all of the specifics of turbine power or what is available. Just stating that this particular product may not be as bad for some people as for others.

Honestly, I agree with you. I don't know if what you say about the 1kW turbine is true but I'm all for the idea. But even if it did take 28 years to pay off, wouldn't the reduction in pollution from the little bit of power generated still be better than none at all?
