  • 25 ton winch on a 10 ton truck moving an empty apc. APC probably weighs less than the truck, but we math it around 13 tons. The wire cable is rated at LEAST 30 tons but is probably more than 50.

People saying the cable could have been overloaded are way off base. The apc could have been upside down and dragging through 6 feet of mud with that cable and not even come close to the rated strength.

  • @skaaltel true, a cable in good condition is very tough !

  • The old days we used a "live cable" and it had a core that stretched and would snap back. Today the cables are considered "dead" with almost no stretch at the core and will almost drop to the ground when they break...

  • @manitoulin001 prob a right regular lay cable

  • WTF!? that looks so unsafe! its called back lash!

  • the only way a cable comes back at someone is if a peice of hardware breaks such as a chain if the cable breaks it falls right to the ground

  • its not a chain for starters... its weaved or braided cable, the likely hood of a cable whipping around and cutting someone in half when the cable is doing a straight pull from the truck to the vehicle is very unlikely.... the cable is more likely to snap and come back at the operator... now if the cable was doubled up and broke at the block point that would send it lashing out at people...

  • you think that is a chain>?? LOL but yeah I agree that is dangerous

  • Did my QL3 there as well, only we were pulling the old Centurion....... with the old 5 Ton Diesel...

    way more fun back then...

  • go canada
