Dissidia 012: Duodecim - The Emperor vs. 000 Feral Chaos (Near Perfect Run)

The short version: Thunder Crest makes Feral Chaos whimper.

The long version: This may have been my easiest run yet. I know other people like to camp at the top of the stage with the Emperor, setting up Flares and Dreary Cells, then start charging Starfall. While I think there's nothing wrong with that strategy, it seemed a tad slow for my tastes, so I decided to duke it out with Feral Chaos on the ground. Thunder Crest is an amazing combo enabler. And when you get hit by a full combo from the Emperor, trust me: it HURTS.

Given the small stage and Feral Chaos's huge size, it's obvious that he'd have a hard time dodging the Emperor's traps. Thunder Crest is especially brutal, as getting caught in that may mean upwards of 8-9k damage. Thunder Crest is the most reliable way to hit with Landmines, which deal incredible damage. There's a reason why they're normally hard to hit with: a single landmine does comparable damage to a full skillchain combo from Prishe, and the Emperor drops TWO on you while you're held in place by Thunder Crest. With Fragile Pride and Counterattack active to make everything do critical damage, the landmines were doing well over 2000 damage each. Then I just have to follow up with a Jecht assist into a second Thunder Crest, and top it all off with my choice of Flare or Dreary Cell. This combo is amazingly easy to pull off against Feral Chaos, especially since the Emperor builds assist stupidly fast with his landmines. Given how simple it was to go from base to 9999 brave with a single combo, it almost felt like I was using an Iai Strike build.

I got a bit sloppy in the middle there when I was late on calling my assist, then accidentally switched off my lock on Feral Chaos, thus preventing me from seeing what he was actually doing. But I managed to recover and finish strong. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this run apart from the mistakes made in the middle.

I'm going to take a break from Feral Chaos runs for a bit, but I'll be doing more in the future. Who else would you guys want to see me use?

@FinalFayt1 Well, what you see is mostly because this boss has high HP but low defense. However, it is true that both Thunder Crest and Light Crest have had their base damage increased in 012.

How about Thunder Crest > Mine > Jecht > Thunder Crest > Aerial Flare instead? Aerial Flare gives extra Wall Rush (ground) damage.
