Track 2 of the CD "3 Way Street" by Irish musicians Mick Moloney, Eugene O'Donnell, and Seamus Egan (Green Linnet, 1993; CD design by Brian Wittman). Written by Mickey and Cormac McConnell about two friends from Belfast, the song is poignant and wistful as only Scots-Irish songs can be. McKeown, MacEwan, McEwen, McEuen...spelling variations caused by Gaelic coming into English. My own family came from Scotland, via Northern Ireland, to the port of Philadelphia, where Moloney, O'Donnell, and Egan themselves are based.
