You ask what difference does making human life-changing discoveries in the expanse of the universe's time table: It is what makes our species advance to where it is today and where it will be tomorrow. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are/who we are. You ask how Atheism can aid in moral values or state that it needs to be the center of science-- neither one needs to correspond with Atheism,, or theism for that matter. Science is science.

What difference does it make in the long run if you help humanity to survive for a fraction of a blip longer in the universe? It's just another version of the great existential question, why not commit suicide? Seriously, think about it, why not destroy all of humanity? I have a good, solid, absolute reason to love my neighbor as myself. An atheist does not. Science can't tell you how to use science. You have to go to your religion for that & atheism falls far short. Believe in God.

I thought this was obvious. Fertiliser, agricultural advancement, antidotes, fuel-cells do not come out of the Bible or the Koran.

While Hitler was a Christian he advanced technology. By posting his picture there is an immediate negative emotional association.

I am not postulating an immediate dichotomy science : faith. Just that it's impossible to believe anything in the Bible/Koran regarding any creation or event.

Nature needs no gods.

Is nature eternal? The law of conservation of Energy and Big bang cosmology say no. Is nature self-organizing? The Law of Entropy says no. Be honest with yourself, man. You have two great, scientific reasons to believe nature needs a Creator.

What does any law of any energy have to do with a universe? Are you referring to the 2nd law of thermodynamics? Then this has no bearing at all on any universe at all.

What does the law of entropy say? I do not know any law of entropy.

The Big Bank has nothing to do with cosmology. Are you referring to cosmogony? Cosmogony says nothing about the duration of the universe.

Failed on all levels. And even if nature is not eternal, this is no reason to believe in any god.

Your statements confuse me and I worry that you either don't understand those laws/theories or that I misunderstand what you are discussing. Please elaborate more on your first two statements with examples and please give an example of where your ideas come from. Also please give your definition of those topics. Please define "nature" and your udnerstanding of the difference of a closed system and an open system, and how they relate to your statement.

The difference is in the want to make things better for the next generation and for them to do the same for their next generation and so on. Ex: the desire for your children's lives to be better and their desire for theirs to be better, ad infinitum.

I also have a good, solid reason to love my neighbor: altruism-- the desire of their happiness directly or indirectly affects my happiness: working to benefit members of the group benefits the group as a whole.

Fortunately for you, the entirety of modern medicine is based on the FACT of Evolution. Were it not for the truth of "Darwinism", all the wonderful advances in Medical Science would be non-existent.

It's IRRATIONAL to believe in mythology born from ignorance.
